What happens when mold is found during construction?
A practical plan for builders and contractors who uncover mold mid-project.

Pause the affected area, not the whole job
Framing and sheathing that got rained on, a leak behind a wall being opened during a remodel, or growth found under old flooring are common discoveries. The first step is to stop work in that area, avoid disturbing the material further and keep crews from spreading dust to finished spaces.
Most of the project can often keep moving while the affected area is assessed and treated.
Assess, dry, then treat
A remediation plan starts with the moisture: is the material still wet, and why? Lumber exposed to weather needs to dry before it is closed in. A plumbing or envelope leak needs to be fixed. Then the affected materials are treated or, where needed, replaced.
Our two-step dry-fog treatment can reach framing cavities and complex surfaces without adding moisture, which helps keep schedules tight in suitable situations.
Keep the record clean
Document what was found, the cause, the treatment and the final condition before walls are closed. That record protects the builder, the owner and future buyers. SaniClean Pros works with builders, general contractors and property managers in Washington and Charlotte, NC, and can schedule around your project timeline.
